Skype for Business Sign In Issues - Outage

Incident Report for University of Waterloo

Resolved

RESOLVED: At around 7:30pm last night all the configuration updates required for the continued usage of Hybrid Authentication with Azure AD and Skype for Business were completed and subsequently tested. Upon speaking with a few affected users, we have confirmed the issue is resolved. This had also impacted mobile devices using Skype for Business and confirmed on multiple devices (Android and iOS) that sign in was possible again and functioning as normal.

Update

UPDATE: We have identified a recently retired Microsoft hard coded Azure Application used for Hybrid Authentication for Skype Clients that appears to be the root cause of these sign in issues. We are now working to re-establish the Hybrid Authentication configuration under the new setup required for the new Azure Application registration for this to function. Further updates to follow once this work has been completed and tested.
