Network and Services Status Page
Investigating - At approximately 8:45 AM, an interruption to electrical power caused network devices in multiple campus buildings to reboot. During the reboot, clients may have experienced and interruption to wired and wireless network service.

Service is restored in the following buildings:

AL, B1, B2, CPH, DC, DC LIB, DWE, E2, E3, EBY, EIT, ESC, EV1, EV2, EV3, GH, HH, LIB, MHR, ML, NH, PAS, PHY, SCH, STC, TC, UWP

RCH remains offline due to power availability. Plant Operations has been contacted to investigate.

Investigating - The ADFS SQL DB server will be patched and may require a few reboots during the maintenance window.  Please be aware that SSO will not be available during the server reboots.

Investigating - Plant Operations is planning power interruptions throughout the day for the following buildings:

ESC, B1, B2, STC, HH, MHR, PAS, EV1, EV2, EV3, AL, ML

Network devices may go offline or reboot when power is interrupted, causing an outage to wired and wireless network service. Once power is restored, network should recover automatically.

Update - A faulty disk triggered multiple alerts which is unexpected, the issue has since self-resolve. Since there is no service impact, a scheduled maintenance window during business hours has been planned to replace the faulty disk.

Investigating - We are currently investigating a hardware issue on Nexenta EC2 Node 02, which started alerting at 04:00 PM. All services have automatically failed over to Node 01, and no service impact has been observed at this time.

The affected storage includes file services hosted on paye.private.uwaterloo.ca and the secondary tier VM datastores.

We will provide updates as we learn more.

Update - IST Network Services will perform a firmware update for the wireless controllers on Monday, April 28th, from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

During this maintenance window, there will be a temporary outage affecting the wireless network. Only a limited number of access points will reboot at any given time, so Wi-Fi coverage will remain available in most areas across campus.

We expect the update to be completed within the scheduled window, and normal service will resume after.
